Baby, baby, baby

Last night I attended a course on breastfeeding at LDS Hospital. I've had a lot of friends and family say it can be a difficult skill to learn, and it's something I really want to be able to do. I learned all kinds of useful things, most of which I think I've already forgotten, but I know it's floating around in my head somewhere, so I'm hoping when the time comes I'll remember. I was really absorbed in the class and trying to take in everything, so much so that for a split second while Chris was driving me home, I thought of the empty back seat, freaked out and thought, "Oh no! Where's the baby?" I'd forgotten I hadn't given birth yet.  :)

In other news, I've decided to try to replace ice cream with frozen yogurt in my diet. I didn't think this would be possible at first, considering my very healthy appetite for all things ice cream, but the other day I went to the Red Mango with a girlfriend, and I realized that just sprinkling some raspberries and a few mini chocolate chips on top of some plain frozen yogurt makes an extremely satisfying treat with a fraction of the calories. So what am I doing today? Pulling out my handy-dandy frozen yogurt and ice cream maker for to make myself a tasty treat.

I learned in my class last night that I still need to abstain from soft cheeses while nursing... so my dreams of people showing up to the hospital with concourses of salads sprinkled with bleu cheese and gorgonzola and feta...POOF! vanished in the blink of an eye. This is all very disappointing, as I dearly love to eat, and like anyone else, I love to eat my favorite things.

  1. How about when you're done nursing we have a soft cheese party? That, or just go to a cheese store and try all the samples of their soft cheeses!! What do you think?! Love you! :)

  4. Becca! I am so very pleased to see you have a blog!!!
About nursing: YOU CAN DO IT!! Just remember to hang in there because it isn't always pleasant at first. AND, if it doesn't work out for you, don't feel bad. Just tell yourself, "I know I can, I know I can....".
I am excited for ya! It is getting close!!
